So as some of you may know International Woman's Day was yesterday. It is a day for all woman around the world. Unfortunately for some of us women we don't have the same rights as men. In the past we haven't been able to vote until the suffragette happened, where us women did some pretty horrible things to get the right to vote.
Today in the UK woman's rights are equal to men's, mostly. Except in military there are some jobs which only men can do which is sexist because a female can do the exact same thing as a male. In Australia the pay gap in the last few years has been at 15-18%. For example if a women and a man did exactly the same job the man would get paid more for exactly the same thing! In Asia there isn't many rights at all. Most girls are forced to be married at around 13 and have kids with someone older which is so sad. Also around Asia children don't have the rights of education or a good home, their parents don't even get benefits!
In race terms Rosa Parks and Nelson Mandela changed the USA rights. Mandela was put to prison for fighting for the black people being equal to white and then he ended up the president of South Africa! In Rosa Park's time white people were first class and black people had to give up seats for them on the buses, but Rosa changed this by telling everyone on the bus who was black to not give their seat up for a white person.
I know this post has been very different to my other ones but I want to make all of you aware about how people have fought for rights and the rights that are unequal. I hope everyone realises how lucky we are to be in a place with free education and free rights.
